UNITRENDS FOUNDER, CTO SPEAKS AT NETWORK STORAGE CONFERENCE;
DISCUSSES PRE-EMINENCE OF DISK-TO-DISK STORAGE
TECHNOLOGY
Schwartz also previews advanced
technology that enables greater storage, faster backup/restore
times
MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA - March 9, 2004 -
Unitrends Software Corp., a leader in the development of
enterprise-wide, cross-platform data protection products and services, announced
today that its founder and chief technology officer, Dr. Steve Schwartz, will be
a featured speaker at the 2004 Network Storage Conference, a major industry
event dedicated to analyzing new architectural processes in network storage and
storage management. The conference began yesterday and concludes
today.
During his presentation today, Schwartz will discuss the emergence
of disk-to-disk storage as the preferred backup method for companies of all
sizes. "Companies are rapidly realizing that disk-to-disk data protection offers
them reliability and high performance and, now, cost-advantages over every other
method of data protection including tape," he said.
Schwartz also will
give attendees a preview of Unitrends technology, now in its final stages of
development. The technology, code-named RX9™, will offer users far greater
storage capacity and will slash the time required for data backup and restores.
Initial tests run at the Unitrends Development Labs show restore times on large
test files and folders cut in several cases from more than an hour to less than
a minute.
Schwartz said the new technology is soon to be introduced and
will be available in Unitrends' Data Protection Units™ (DPUs). The solution will
be available exclusively through Unitrends' channel partners
